Check-in: You may check in from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
Check-out: We ask that you check out by 10:00 am.
Curfew: There is no curfew for Machiya Club guests. When checking in, you will be given a key that you may keep and use throughout your stay.
Luggage: We’re happy to keep luggage here before check-in or after check-out for your convenience
Please note that we may be out of the office during the day, so be sure to inform us when you will need our assistance.

We accept payment for your reservation at the time of check-in by cash or any major credit card (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express, Discover and Diners) and various other cashless payment options (Alipay+, Coin+, Line Pay, WeChat Pay (微信支付), d Pay, au Pay, UnionPay QR (銀聯), J-Coin Pay, PayPay, iD, QUICKPay, Apple Pay and prepaid transportation cards. Description
This large, 14-mat “kyoma” tatami room provides sleeping space for up to 6 guests. Both of the opposing ends of the room open out to our private gardens.
Relax in this gorgeous and spacious traditional tatami room that reflects the natural beauty of the two Japanese gardens at each end of the room, the luxurious dining / living room, and a private bathroom with a large wooden sake barrel bath tub. Perfect for slowly unwinding from a busy day, the room offers a quiet, yet open and breezy atmosphere. This classic room design known as “shoin-zukuri” is as comfortable and relaxing now as it was centuries ago.
The interior decor also features a few works by local Shiga artists, representing a contemporary take on traditional Japanese aesthetics, such as finely crafted 100% natural sudare screens made with the local reeds of Lake Biwa, bamboo stools, Shigaraki Ware water server, and other works by local artists.
Enjoy the refreshing beauty of this traditional space as you relax in sophisticated style.
Bathroom: Enjoy a wonderful bath with a traditional Chinese umbrella ceiling and wooden sake barrels that were once used for sake brewing. There is also a bath with fewer steps (cypress). All baths use pure natural water from the spring that has been here since the time of the sake brewery. Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.
Restroom: Like the guest rooms, the restroom is also on the ground floor and has no steps. Toilets are equipped with bidet and heated seats.

- There is one (large) television in the dining room (Japanese-style rooms are not equipped with a TV.)
- Hair dryers are available at the wash stand and in the bathroom dressing room.
- Humidifiers and air purifiers are available.
- Refrigerator, freezer, microwave, toaster, plates, chopsticks, spoons, forks, tea cups, glasses, ice bucket, and ice are provided.
- Enjoy locally made green tea and black tea, available in tatami rooms. A coffee server (Nestle Dolce Gusto) is equipped in the 1st floor dining room.
Azuchi-no-ma (Twin Duplex Room, Main Building)

Maximum Occupancy
There are two semi-double beds next to each other, as well as two sofa beds for 1 or 2 more guests.
*Due to steep stairs and the widely spaced bannister supports, children must be carefully supervised during the stay.
Description
2nd-floor loft bedroom in the traditional architectural style called zushi-nikai with ceiling that slopes down toward the street. Fairly large 10-tatami-mat sized room.
This cozy attic loft is a classic example of traditional townhouse architecture with the “mushikomado” vertically slatted windows overlooking the street below. The skylight adds a modern touch and lighter atmosphere. This room also features western style beds for familiar comfort, and provides a wonderfully peaceful getaway space for rest and relaxation. Also relax in the private bathroom with a special enamel bath tub, once used as a sake tank. Take the back stairs down to the 1st floor, and you’ll find a small yet cozy living room with a rocking chair.
The interior decor features local Shiga crafts, such as high quality Omi Linen cushions and fine bamboo crafts, and other artworks by local artists such as hand-made lighting appliances, etc.
Bathroom: Relaxing private bathroom with fine tiling with Taisho period style and an enamel bath tub, once used as a sake tank. All baths use pure natural water that has been springing up since the time of the sake brewery.
*Please note that the entrance to the bath is narrow, and you will need to bend down a little. Please be advised that there are stairs. Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner are provided.
Restroom: Toilets are equipped with bidet and heated toilet seats, located next to the second room bedroom.

Kura-no-ma (Twin Duplex Room, Annex Kolmio)

Sleeping space for up to 2 people. The two beds are arranged in an L-shape. Please note the handrails on the staircase and 2nd floor are relatively low, so to ensure your safety, we only take reservations for guests of age 7 or older.

Duplex room in a remodeled historic kura warehouse. Sleeps 2 guests maximum. A rare kura bedroom, in a Meiji period structure built over 100 years ago. A maisonette style room with private bathroom and restroom on the 1st floor, and bedroom on the second. Enjoy a memorable stay in this remodeled historic kura warehouse building, converted into a cozy hidden suite offering comfort with unique style.
The rooms include furniture made with natural materials and cozy yet elegant décor, such as dried flower bouquets and bedding that’s made by local artists.
Bathroom:Newly built private bathroom on the 1st floor with a clean, modern look. Relax and wash away your stress in the bathtub with plenty of space to stretch your legs.
In addition to body soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathroom, we offer an original special amenities set (shampoo, conditioner, and soap bar), made with 100% natural local ingredients such as sake lees and herbs, together with water from our main building’s spring water well. A lotion and serum are also available for use.
Wash Basin Room: Located on the 1st floor. A fairly spacious room that also serves as a changing space and powder room next to the bathroom.
Toilet Room: Located on the 1st floor with wooden walls and equipped with a bidet and heated toilet seat.

Sleeps 3 guests (+ 2 infants / toddlers sharing same bedding with adults). Two single beds for 2 people. Futon matress is available in the tatami room for 3rd guest or as alternate bedding for small children.
Description
This 2nd-floor room overlooks the front street through traditional bengara lattice windows. A Western-style bedroom connected to a Japanese-style tatami room decorated with lovely furnishings. The bathroom also keeps traditional Japanese design, such as the ajiro weave ceiling, giving you a sense of Taisho era elegance. Equipped with a lockable door to the staircase and strengthened shoji paper screens, making it safe for guests with small children. Treat yourself to some quality relaxation in the peaceful tatami room.
Also enjoy the décor, such as an adorable Shigaraki-ware raccoon dog statue, chairs and furniture made of natural materials sourced from all over Japan, elegant dried flower bouquets and bedding handmade by local artists.
Bathroom:Enjoy private relaxation in the bathroom with traditional and contemporary fusion design.

Description
Unique duplex suite room in a renovated machiya building. The 1st floor includes a living room and private bathroom, and the bedroom is on the 2nd floor. The bathroom is in a separated building that connects to the main room area, in the traditional style of Japanese housing. There are two bathtubs indoor and outdoor. Immerse yourself in the traditional atmosphere of Omihachiman’s old historical district while enjoying modern style and comfort. DVD / blue-ray disc players are equipped only in this room.
Enjoy the touches of décor, such as chairs and furniture made of natural materials sourced from all over Japan, elegant dried flower bouquets and bedding handmade by local artists.
Bathroom:Located in a separate building, but connecting to the main room. The indoor bath features beautiful blue tiling for perfect relaxation. In the back, there’s also an outdoor bath made with a sake barrel once used by the former brewery at our main building. The outdoor bath is exclusive for use only with this room.
In addition to body soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathroom, we offer an original special amenities set (shampoo, conditioner, and soap bar), made with 100% natural local ingredients such as sake lees and herbs, together with water from our main building’s spring water well. A lotion and serum are also available for use.
Wash Basin Room: There are two wash basins: inside the bathroom and in the 2nd-floor bedroom powder space area.
Toilet Room: Located beside the bathroom building, and partially open to the outdoor air, so equipped with a heater during the winter season.
